Scholarship Competition

Fashion Group International of Dallas is excited to announce the 58th annual Scholarship Competition event, to be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 6pm, in Dallas, TX. Please stay connected with our website and social platforms for more details.

We invite college and university students in fashion design and merchandising studies to participate and compete for more than $40,000 in scholarship awards in four categories. Fashion design categories include Black Tie/Bridal, Cocktail/Party, Daywear/Streetwear and Apparel Sustainability. Digital merchandising categories include Digital Merchandising and Store Planning, Fashion Portfolio and the newly added Digital Sustainability- 3D Collection.

The top awards will be Fashion Excellence and Director’s Choice. We will once again offer the Paris American Academy Couture Award for 2026. In addition to awarding our scholarship winners, we are providing learning opportunities for our attendees through interactive programming with local fashion professionals.

To continue promoting the top-of-mind concerns of the next generation of fashion professionals, we have:

• Gender neutrality– All of our categories are now open to submissions designed for any gender.
• Size inclusivity – We are offering the opportunity for students to submit garments in plus sizing and will hire models to support this underrepresented category.
• Sustainability – Introduced in 2021, this category continues to grow as students gain more understanding in apparel sustainability. This year we encourage students to think through sustainable business practices in our digital submission criteria.
• Innovation – Fashion’s use of 3D visualization to optimize the design workflow and prevent waste through over development is growing. We have added the Digital Sustainability- 3D Collection category to support this major industry shift.

The competition will include a daytime event for students to interact with and learn from top industry professionals. The evening award show will feature finalists and their designs in an award presentation.

Registration will open on February 9, 2026.

Participants must meet the following criteria:

• Participants must be sponsored by a college/university and be enrolled at a two or four-year institution in a fashion program.
• Entries must be current school projects and not have won any prior FGI Dallas scholarship awards.
• Competition entry fees are $20 per garment and $20 per digital entry.
• Total number of entries is (4) per student (Apparel & Digital combined).
  • Students may enter more than one garment in the apparel categories.
  • Digital competition entries are limited to (3) total – one in each category.
